This Death Certificate search system is provided as an interim solution until the records for 1928-1930 can be indexed and added to the Death Certificate Collection. Many users have asked for these records, so we are providing them with scanned images of the original Vital Records index.
To search, follow these steps (examples given below):
FIRST, in Advanced Search:
1a) Select the year of the death you want to search.
1b) Select the Record Type: "Index".
This retrieves the INDEX PAGE(S).
1c) Find the correct Index Page and use the index page(s) to find the specific name you are searching.
1d) Write down the certificate number associated with the name. (only the number is important. For example, in certificate "1449-J" only the "1449" is important.
1e) Return to this page.
Use the same search boxes:
2a) Select the year of the death you want to search
2b) Select the Record Type: "Certificates".
This retrieves the CERTIFICATE PAGE(S).
2c) Scroll through Search Results until you find the folder containing your certificate number based on the span of numbers in the folder title.
2d) The sidebar to the left lists all the certificates in the folder. The certificate number is the last number on the right after the underscore. Click on that number to view the certificate.
